Is Ecovolt Electrical NAPIT approved and fully insured?
Yes. Ecovolt Electrical is a NAPIT Approved Contractor, TrustMark registered and fully insured. Electrical installation work is carried out in accordance with the current requirements of BS 7671.

What is an EICR?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is an inspection and test of an existing electrical installation. It identifies defects, deterioration and potential safety issues and records the overall condition of the installation.

How often do landlords in Scotland need an EICR?
Private rented properties in Scotland generally require electrical installations to be inspected at least every five years, or sooner where an earlier inspection is recommended.

What happens if my EICR is unsatisfactory?
An unsatisfactory EICR means electrical defects requiring attention have been identified. Ecovolt Electrical can explain the observations, quote for remedial work and carry out the necessary repairs and testing.

What is an RCBO consumer unit?
An RCBO consumer unit provides individual residual-current and overcurrent protection for individual circuits. This can help prevent a fault on one circuit from unnecessarily disconnecting several other circuits.

What does surge protection do?
A surge protective device (SPD) helps protect electrical and electronic equipment against transient overvoltages that could damage sensitive equipment.

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Why do my electrics keep tripping?
Repeated RCD, RCBO or circuit-breaker tripping can be caused by faulty appliances, damaged wiring, moisture, insulation faults or problems with an individual circuit. Electrical fault finding can identify the cause.
